HOW TO CALMLY RUN FAST

Running

TIGHT

CORE

TIGHT CORE

When running, pull your rib cage down closer to your hips and keep that body in a straight line. All sorts of things go wrong when that core relaxes (reduced speed, increased muscle strain, etc.).

RELAX YOUR

FACE

RELAX YOUR FACE

We've all seen the 'pain face'. What if you knew it actually slowed you down? That grimace creates tension in the body that slows things like your arm swing, and eventually your legs. Just relax those cheeks & your run will feel better.

LOOONG

EXHALES

LONG EXHALES

After a long hill or hard section of a run, you'll find your breathing has sped up. On your next breath, take your time exhaling (and repeat). This will help lower your heart rate and help settle you down into cruising speed.

DEEEEEP

BREATHS

DEEP BREATHS

On the same note of long exhales, sometimes you just need deeper breaths. Short, shallow breaths make any run or jog seem harder. Make sure you maximize your oxygen intake for maximum calmness.

HAVE FUN

You're out running! Life could be worse! Remember to enjoy your run and everything that comes along with it. Stress will do you no good, so fill yourself with joy instead.
