CUTOFF?

Most races start around 7am, so you have from the opening gun until midnight of race day to complete the full 140.6 mile race.

OF TRAINING?

10-30 HOURS PER WEEK

In any lengthy training plan, you'll start with lighter training and increase to a peak - then taper for race day. Those lighter weeks will be around 10 hours a week (across 8-10 sessions), and the peak weeks will approach 25-30 hours!

THE TRAINING (ESPECIALLY ALONE)

Unless you're training in a big group (or have crazy friends along the ride) the hardest part of an Ironman is simply training alone, a lot.. like a lot a lot. But if you have a strong reason for starting, you'll get through it just fine!

The races can have $700-$800 entry fees. Then it depends on your equipment. Bikes can be $500-$15,000, wetsuits $100-$1000, and so on. You can do an Ironman on a budget, but you can also do it with a blank check.
