Traditional Greek Salad Recipe (Horiatiki Salad)

A simple, easy, and traditional Greek salad recipe (also referred to as a Horiatiki salad) that came straight from Greece itself! This salad is a perfect, fresh, crisp side for any meal, or perfect on it's own.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 large tomato
  • 1 large green pepper
  • .5 red onion
  • 5-15 olives
  • 1/4 cup feta cheese
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • olive oil, salt, pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Very roughly chop the tomato (cut in half, then cut into 6th's like a pizza)
  • Take the top and bottom off of the bell pepper and remove the seeds/veins. Then cut the pepper into strips (thick julienne cuts).
  • Cut the half of a red onion into strips to mimic the julienne strips of the green pepper
  • Cut about half a cucumber in half lengthwise, then again into 1/4in slices
  • Add the tomatoes, peppers and onions into a bowl and top with your desired amount of olives
  • Coat the salad in olive oil, salt and pepper to taste and toss
  • Divide the salad into your portions and top with crumbled (or just a solid brick) of the feta cheese and serve!
