Traditional Greek Salad Recipe (Horiatiki Salad)
A simple, easy, and traditional Greek salad recipe (also referred to as a Horiatiki salad) that came straight from Greece itself! This salad is a perfect, fresh, crisp side for any meal, or perfect on it's own.
- 1 large tomato
- 1 large green bell pepper
- .5 red onion
- 5-15 olives personal preference
- 1/4 cup feta cheese
- 1/2 cucumber
- olive oil, salt, pepper to taste
Very roughly chop the tomato (cut in half, then cut into 6th's like a pizza)
Take the top and bottom off of the bell pepper and remove the seeds/veins. Then cut the pepper into strips (thick julienne cuts).
Cut the half of a red onion into strips to mimic the julienne strips of the green pepper
Cut about half a cucumber in half lengthwise, then again into 1/4in slices
Add the tomatoes, peppers and onions into a bowl and top with your desired amount of olives
Coat the salad in olive oil, salt and pepper to taste and toss
Divide the salad into your portions and top with crumbled (or just a solid brick) of the feta cheese and serve!
